High Altitude Musings ~

Silent wind and sunlit valleys below, the bright flit of prayer flags, high altitude alpine flowers, the poetic temple tucked into the hillside and the sound of holy water dripping out from a crevice in the mountain wall…..
This shot was taken at almost 4000m, from the temple above Phajoding, looking over the Thimphu valley. This was actually the highest place I have hiked to so far…surpassing the 3776m of Mt. Fuji. I must admit, it was a struggle to get up here (also since I climbed Mt. Fuji at night and this hike was all done in the heat of the day) but I am slowly trying to challenge myself to higher climbs….the best part is running down in the alpine grass…how quickly one can forget the uphill slog!
